CONGREGATE NUTRITION
The Congregate Nutrition Program operates three locations in Wilkes County.
This program provides a nutritionally-balanced meal cooked in two of the congregate sites and transported to the two satellite sites.
Congregate meals are provided at no charge to anyone over 60 years of age and older.
Congregate nutrition services promote health and well-being by providing a nutritious lunch Monday through Friday. The congregate meal provides a minimum of one-third of the daily Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Science.
Nutrition education, educational and informative programs, and other support services are also provided to help our seniors remain independent.
Congregate meal participants:
- Must be 60 years of age or older
- The spouse of an eligible older person

Consumer Contributions
While meals are provided at no charge, the program does ask for Consumer Contributions. The purpose of Consumer Contributions is to extend the availability of services provided by the program.
